Today I wanted to let you know about two great new resources to assist spreading the word of sustainable events to those that want to source information about organising and running green and sustainable events.
Supplier Database
When Climate Wave first started, one of the hardest tasks we had was to source reliable earth friendly products and services. Of course, we were ahead of our time, so that made it all that much harder… but because we’ve now grown, so have our contacts throughout those industries that can offer such services.
While we have project partners that we work with for our larger events, often it can be the small things that are hardest to find, so we recently advertised to our networks an opportunity to be included on our new green supply chain database. It’s our way of saying thank you to those businesses (and to you) for making the effort towards being sustainable.
If you are part of, or know of, a business, company or organisation that holds a passion for sustainability and provides eco-friendly products and/or services for events that would like to be listed here, please get in touch with us. It doesn’t cost anything to be featured (although we’d be stoked if you shared the page with your networks too) but as we want to keep the quality of the database high, inclusion will be at our discretion.
Check out the Sustainable Event Supplier Database here, and make sure you let the businesses know that this is where you found them!
Green Events Google+ Community
Our second initiative is over on the fast growing Google+ social media platform – and so our sources tell us, if you’re in business, particularly here in Australia, getting active on Google+ is a good move.
Recently, it was announced that you could start up “Communities” around well, pretty much any topic you like. Obviously given our speciality, we’ve created a community that deals with How to Green Your Event.
The focus of the community is to spread the word of sustainable events, share information, help and encourage, offer advice, answer questions and discuss any and all things to do with creating and running a green event. We’ll also feature products and services, so you never know if you’re in the supplier database, maybe we’ll feature you there too!
Of course, there are some rules to the community – we won’t be tolerating any spamming or blatant promotion of your own goods and chattels just in the hope of getting some exposure, however if you are active in the community and have something that contributes to the topic at hand, that’s no problem.
You can find the community here, please drop by and introduce yourself ! You will need a Google Account to join, but if you don’t have one already, click here to find out how to do that.
Look forward to seeing you over there, and don’t forget, like any community, the more people involved, the more we’ll all get out of it, so spread the word!
