A secure area was set aside for bicycles to park at the southern end of Currumbin Beach. All participants will receive a Gold Coast cycle paths booklet for helping us to reduce our carbon footprint by leaving their cars at home.
Greg Howell, Climate Wave’s CEO said, “Swell Sculpture Festival is an iconic event in it’s eleventh year and Climate Wave is proud to be invited back to provide this service. I’m looking forward to seeing all those happy cyclists from last year that were so encouraging of our green event practices and many more new participants”.
The event last year saw over 100 users of the service and early indications from today’s usage and prior advertising this year could double or even triple that number.
The event started today and runs till the 22nd of September at Currumbin Beach front on the Gold Coast and the service will be available on the weekends. “We are doubling the amount of cycle racks this year and depending on our volunteer base we hope to make this service available at both ends of the festival. The southern end location will be in close proximity to the Currumbin Surf Lifesaving Club. By providing the extra location we hope to reduce cycle traffic through the event which will ease congestion so pedestrians will benefit also, said Mr. Howell”.
Swell Sculpture Festival organisers are committed to improving their sustainable event management practices and in partnership with Climate Wave are dedicated to this goal.
So help green this event by leaving your car at home and cycle down to take in the amazing diverse spectacle on beautiful Currumbin Beach.
