Eco Challenge Media Release
Media Release: for immediate release 04/07/2014
In an Australian first, where three businesses have partnered with two non-profit groups to leave a legacy of half a $Million for the community all by hosting a one day sustainable event.
Climate Wave Enterprises and Mac Eco Solutions are partnering with Green Initiative to put on the Sunshine Coast event, which will take place on Sunday 9 November 2014.
Green Initiative has provided a 200-panel, permanent Australian-accredited solar power system for the Kawana Waters Surf Lifesaving Club, which is guaranteed for 25 years of operation.
The investment will significantly reduce the club’s power bills – a direct benefit cost for the club and its members – as well as enabling them to become more environmentally sustainable.
As part of the Surfrider Foundation’s Eco Challenge event, anyone who purchases a solar system from Green Initiative, for their home or business, an eco-dollar donation will be made to the Surfrider Foundation Sunshine Coast and the Kawana Waters Surf Lifesaving Club.
The partnership is the first of its kind in Australia and as a result of hosting the one-day event they will leave a $130,000 solar legacy for the local community.
Greg Howell, Managing Director of Climate Wave Enterprises who specialises in sustainable event management, is driving the sustainability & legacy for the Surfrider’s Eco Challenge surfing and lifestyle event.
This event is the culmination of many years of adopting and practicing sustainable event solutions. International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 20121 best management practices stipulate the importance of leaving a lasting legacy for the community – the Eco Challenge Sunshine Coast event partnership enables us to achieve that. It’s a win-win scenario,” said Greg.
Surfrider’s Eco Challenge event will be held at Kawana Waters Surf Lifesaving Club on Sunday 9 November 2014. A number of activities will take place on the day including a wooden surfboard competition, a skateboard ramp, live music and eco-friendly market stalls.
The first meeting of the Surfrider’s Eco Challenge Sunshine Coast will take place at 4pm on Saturday 5th July at Kawana Waters Surf Lifesaving Club.
